The Wedding of Andrew & Gary

Andrew & Gary celebrated with us in May with family & friends. I absolutely loved their DIY festival theme, I just had to share it with you!

“We had visited The Riverbank on many occasions for food and drinks and have found food has always been of a very high standard plus the staff are really attentive and professional.

We chose The Riverbank after dining at a few other venues and were beginning to run out of time when we suddenly realized that the location, venue and food at the Riverbank were what we were looking for in other venues. I contacted Lauren and we had Sunday Lunch to seal the deal. Good news, they had a vacancy as time was running out.

The Events team were brilliant and worked with our budget from Day 1, The weather on the day made the location even more stunning and it lead to a really calm and relaxed wedding. We had originally two Celiac orders and once these meals had been delivered, 3 more came out of the woodwork which the team easily catered for.

Wow, the food was amazing and went perfectly with our theme on the day and everyone had happy smiling faces, both guests and the events team alike.”

“The style for our wedding was Vintage Street Party and we had two long rows of tables down the middle seating 20 people on each. We liked this idea as separate tables seemed very formal and it avoided the nightmare of the seating plan!

Before Christmas, I had ordered a pompom making kit which arrived in January and I made one and thought, what a great way to decorate a room, colourful and tactile. We and our friends formed The Pompom Committee and met on several occasions to make three black bin liners full of pompoms.

We used these along with paper ones and balloons to decorate the tables and even enough for buttonholes on the day for all of our guests. We had about 300 helium balloons floating around the dance floor (think Sex and the city on Valentine’s Day) When the curtained off area were revealed in the evening, our guests took a handful each and let them off over the River Trent which was a magical sight  which met the arriving evening guests.”

“As this was a same sex marriage, neither of us wore a dress lol! We looked at 100’s of suits and  eventually chose ours, I must admit that I did have a choice of 3 ties, a bow tie, 3 shirt’s and 2 pairs of shoes on the day so I guess I over shopped.”
